What is the point of posting significantly out of date books and other speech recognition printed material that no longer apply

Skip,

Most of the most recent admin posts regarding books and printed material relative to speech recognition are so far out of date and so irrelevant to current speech recognition, that I question why you posted them. If you have a good reason OK, otherwise they're just clutter. I find this a little irritating because it pushes more relevant information to the bottom and/or onto the next page.

If you notice, I do state at

If you notice, I do state at the top in bold they may be out of date but may still apply. They are placed in areas where it's not likely there will be anything below them - comments or replies. They really shouldn't be in your way.

I can't find any newer ones. Do you know of any? I've had requests for relevant books so there they are if someone wants them.

You mean that a book printed for DNS 4 wouldn't give you the basics for DNS 8? Perhaps not the fine points, but the basics if you want more information or tips?

Notes from the peanut

Notes from the peanut gallery:

I sure noticed a lot of out-of-date mat'ls on the web, and I can't blame Skip for linking to the scant supply of infos available. I would sure appreciate of those other websites (and ideally all printed mat'ls, but hey) would take the time to keep current, especially if they are attempting to promote or sell something related to SR.

I don't understand why folks with websites for a successful (and expensive) commercial program or 2 can pay so little attention to updating their sites, while free and shareware apps throughout the web are updated with every change, by excited and enthusiastic user groups. Or rather, I do understand but don't want to beat a dead horse to glue. It would however encourage folks to purchase or use DNS or VV if they could find websites related to it that didn't say things like "last update, 2000," or "this applies to Dragon version 4" and such.

You, Skip, don't seem to have a problem in that regard. I have learned much from reading and posting here, and hope to in the future, also. If some of the websites you link to are out of date, or presume that I should know that their tutorial for Dragon 6 still applies to version 8, I am hoping that they can be encouraged to at least do some minimum maintainance. I may pester one or 2 of them myself in this regard.

Myself, I would be disinclined to buy software from somebody who doesn't update their information or FAQ pages or what have you, even if only to include a remark that "this does [or does not] apply to version 8."

The problem of dated content

The problem of dated content related to speech recognition was my primary motivation in creating the speech resources site at SpeechWiki.org Because everyone is welcome to update any page on the site, there is some insurance that the content will remain fresh.
