64 but WXP - DNS 10.1
Submitted by SCUser on Fri, 03/12/2010 - 21:44.
If I go to DNS 10.1 for my 64 bit WXP computer will I be able to transfer/use my DNS 9.0 user files or will I have to start over and train 10.1?
Thanks in advance,

The short answer is yes but we don't recommend upgrading your previous user files. We only recommend exporting your Ver. 9 vocabulary and commands and then importing them into a new Ver. 10.1 profile. You'll find a pictorial step-by-step on the process in our KnowBrainer Installation/Training Guide ~ http://www.knowbrainer.com/downloads/KnowBrainer_M...

Version 10.1 is such an improvement in speech algorithms that it behooves you to create a new user profile. You can simply move your added words and macros from the old Dragon 9.0 profile to Dragon 10.1 user. Accuracy should be at least as good.
I recommend before Exporting your version 9 added words you go through them and remove the nonsense words and any words you feel do not belong. Simple say, "Show Vocabulary Editor." Then click the drop down list by Display and choose, Custom words only. Highlight and delete any unwanted words.
When finished, click the Words menu on the Dragon Bar. Click Export and name and send the file to a location you will be able to find it (Desktop or Thumb Drive) when you go to Import the words back into your Dragon 10.1 profile.
If you have custom macros, you can use the Command Browser in the Tools menu to Export these.

You Cannot Export DNS Preferred Commands
If you have custom macros, you can use the Command Browser in the Tools menu to Export these.
One small correction to Marty's otherwise excellent advice... only DNS Pro, Medical and Legal include the ability to export your commands. This feature does not exist in DNS Preferred but if your Ver. 9 user files are still intact, you can reinstall DNS 10.1 and it will prompt you to upgrade your Ver. 9 user files. Although we don't recommend using the upgraded profile (as previously noted), you can copy the command file from the upgraded user profile to your newly trained user profile. Short of re-creating your commands, this is the only way DNS Preferred users can upgrade their commands. Your Ver. 10 command file is located at ~ C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking10\Users\(your username)\current\MyCmds.dat
