Microsoft Word 2003 not recognizing DNS dictation text in body of document (after working fine before)
Submitted by ej on Tue, 08/12/2008 - 16:31.
I have been using Dragon naturally speaking for years. suddenly, I am unable to dictate into a Microsoft Word 2003 document. I have restarted the computer, open to different documents, etc. and am able to maneuver the command buttons within the program -- it just simply cannot write down the text I'm dictating. Can anyone enlighten me? Is there something I could fix?
Thank you so much. Oh how we struggle to make this work on our company's time.

Hi Elena,
We are going to need a bit more info. What version/edition of DNS do you have (9.5/Professional etc). What operating system are you on? Have any new programs been put on the system or any old ones updated? Did you change anything recently in DNS? Word? in Windows? Have your IT people made any changes to privileges in Word that would affect your account?
That will at least be a start toward helping!

thank you! I am working with version 9.5 professional, Windows XP. No programs have been added to the system -- it is possible something was updated. I honestly do not remember, but I really do not use many programs. I just recall suddenly my Microsoft Word documents were not able to be edited by my voice software anymore in the middle of the workday. This computer is at home with me and no one has touched it in terms of access. It works in every other aspect, just not in Microsoft Word.
Look under Help --> About
Look under Help --> About Microsoft Office Word --> Disabled items and tell us what you see if anything
