Pseudo-Alerts Re: New Posts

Skip,

Now and then I get an alert that there has been a new post to an existing topic, but when I go there I find that's not true. For example, this afternoon I seem to have gotten maybe several dozen such pseudo-alerts. I was going to mention them, but there are so many I gave up. Some of the topic numbers, though, include: 627, 983, 805, 1733, etc.

A few I can ignore, but this many is a nuisance.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help debug this problem.

Bruce

PS: When this happens, there may be one valid alert, but its not synchronized with the pseudos, so I think its just a random association.

PPS: For example, right now I'm being bombarded with the things -- I add a PS to this topic, and when I get back home a new pseudo or twenty are waiting for me. Could just be some sort of attack on me, I suppose, if no one else is seeing the same pattern.

Bruce, I've not seen this at

Bruce,

I've not seen this at all nor has anyone else mentioned it. First I'll check in the morning for an update to that module. If you kept the messages, could you forward a couple to my private email? Maybe I can figure out what's doing this.

Update...

Remember Mr. "You are absolutely right !!!" that you posted to? Well, he is a spammer it seems. He loaded the system with 19 spam emails to items you had previously posted to. The anti-spam system caught them so they weren't available to the public but the subscription system had already sent out the notice to you.

They were there, you just couldn't see them is all.

Mr. "You are absolutely right !!!" is no longer with us.

P.S. The comments you and Chuck made to him/it were also removed in the cleansing process.

Not the first time my mouth

Not the first time my mouth has gotten me into trouble Smiling

Generally we've been so well protected here that I was unaware of such things.
